Draw magnifying glass

Choose the shown instrument
and draw an ellipse, like it is demonstrated below. 


Copy this layer and apply the white color on it. Place it under the main one. Displace it a little bit. 
Insert one more ellipse with the color 304899. 
And one more. The gradient’s parameters are indicated the next step. 

The last element includes representing the highlight on the glass. Make an ellipse also with the color ACC8E0. 
The final result!

I know this is an old tutorial but just wanna say thanks for the great one. I just completed it, although it does not look as great as yours
I’m just wondering, how could you start with the shadow first? At the beginning we do not have the glass yet, how could we know how it might be “shadowed”? What I did was, I created the glass first and at the final step, I made a shadow for the entire glass including the surface, the middle part and the handle. This ensures the shadow matches the object and I think it makes more logical sense.
