Easter April
The next topic, we’ll learn to use different textures, to insert ornaments and change the colors.
Open in a new window a photo having pictured on it several eggs: File ? Open (ctrl+o).
Find now a textile’s texture with a prominent ornament and open it in a new window too (ctrl+o).
Mark out the textile, applying the Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a copy of it: Edit ? Copy (ctrl+c). Get back to the eggs’ picture and insert the copy twice on a new layer: Edit ? Paste (ctrl+v). Make the corrections after that on its size and the angle of its turning, applying Edit ? Free Transform (ctrl+t).
Minimize the layer’s Opacity with the textures, as for the eggs’ contours to be seen. Select then the Polygonal Lasso Tool to mark out and erase that zone situated outside the eggs’ contours.
Mark out the textures by clicking on their layers and press on the ctrl button. Pass to the window Filter ? Liquefy (shift+ctrl+x) and select the Bloat Tool to give volume to the texture, keeping the eggs’ shape.
Change the layer’s Blending Mode on Soft Light.
Change now the color of the texture, applying firstly this option: Image ? Adjustments ? Hue/Saturation (ctrl+u).
And then next option: Image ? Adjustments ? Selective Color.
Insert the ornaments on another egg the same way we did with the previous ones and merge down the layers with the ornaments: Layer ? Merge Down (ctrl+e). Apply on the new layer the next shown filter’s option: Filter ? Sharpen ? Sharpen.
Creating two more new layers and applying the Brush Tool, it’s possible to paint out two more eggs in the same color (each color on a new layer). Change the layer’s Blending Mode on Soft Light.
Now we have to change the color of an egg, situated on the left side, which is why we must copy the layer with its painting and change the copy’s color, using the next combination: Image ? Adjustments ? Hue/Saturation (ctrl+u).
Select a ready to use brush downloaded from this address: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/37536715/ ?qo=10&q=by%3Aanarasha-stock&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps and insert the ornament and then turn it over a little (ctrl+t).
Select the Eraser Tool and erase the unnecessary zones. Change the ornament’s color also (ctrl+u).
Create now a mask out of this layer: Layer ? Add Layer Mask ? Reveal All and apply the Gradient Tool to make the ornament’s visibility coming out smoothly:
Insert the same way one more ornament:
Find an appropriate texture now:
And place it on the top layer (сtrl+t):
Change the layer’s Blending Mode on Hard Light and minimize the layer’s Opacity till 55%. Creating a mask out of this layer, select the same Gradient Tool of black color to make invisible the layer above the eggs:
Apply the next shown command: Layer ? Remove Layer Mask ? Apply and make a copy of this layer: Layer ? Duplicate Layer (ctrl+j). Insert the layer’s mask now, using Layer ? Add Layer Mask ? Hide All. Apply the Gradient Tool of white color to make the copy visible only along its edges.
Merge down all the layers: Layer ? Merge Visible (shift+ctrl+e) and make the corrections on the layer’s brightness and contrast, choosing the next option: Image ? Adjustments ? Levels (ctrl+l).
Make a copy of this layer (ctrl+j) and blur out the copy, using the next option: Filter ? Blur ? Gaussian Blur.
Change the layer’s Blending Mode on Darken. The Opacity must be of 90%.
Merge down the layers again (Ctrl+e) and make a copy of the new layer (ctrl+j). Next we have to apply on the copy the next filter’s option: Filter ? Sharpen ? Sharpen. Minimize the layer’s Opacity till 60%.
Finished!
