Make abstract illustrations
Today our tutorial will be about an abstract illustration made using basic PS techniques mixed with PS layer styles.
So start as usual; by creating a new 1000×1000 document and a new layer.
Now, using Pen Tool (P) create a curved area.
Make a selection by pressing ALT+click on the path in the path box.
when the selection is done, create a new layer.
Further it for smoother border blending and fill the selection with Rounded gradient like so.
As result we get this.
Now I’m going to use my custom shape tool and create a few objects to fill my pictures.
And there we go.
Use some layer styles. On the biggest set.
I’ve changed the color of the other object sets (medium and small) and copied the same layer styles on these very sets.
And here what we got.
Now I’ve applied the Filter>Distort>Spherize? on each of the objects. Use max Sphere intensity.
Now make a copy of the biggest object.
Set the opacity of the lower layer to about 50%-40% (depending on what you will see) and use Gaussian blur on it. The goal is to change it to a shadow.
I did transform the object (Distort).
Add drop Shadow to 2 of the objects (medium and smallest) Medium:
The Small one:
Play with layer overall opacity.
Create another layer somewhere in the middle and fill it with Gradient (dark blue to black).
Add a layer mask right to this layer (Layer>Add layer mask>Reveal All).
Use black to white gradient (black-exposes, white-hides effects).
Well that is about it for our concept.
Final steps.
And Bevel and emboss to the biggest object (in the layer styles).
Then select the round dares using the elliptical marquee tool.
Use select inverse command, further the selection and use blur more and Gaussian Blur Tool on the selection.
Final result.
