Metal,Chrome and Jelly Text Effects
Today we are going to work on some text effect techniques, just that. I would like to start from creating several text lines and give them some effects. I suppose 1 is going to be Chrome like, metal like, and shall we say bubble or balloon like, maybe water; we’ll see as we start. I really don’t know how to create these, but I do know how metal looks like and I do also know how layer styles work, so let’s experiment together.
So first create a new Document, let’s say 1024x 768. Create 3 separate layers with words: metal chrome and jelly (the words are not really important here).
So our first layer is metal, let’s see what out layer styles can do.
So I have finished my work with Metal and here is the result (I have also changed the Font to match theme).
Remember that our effect is still incomplete; it will be post produced using Wacom tablet.
Now let’s take care of our second Specimen) ? Chrome. Now the most important here is to know Tonal Gamma OF Chrome. Its Tonal Gamma differs a lot from other for example matte surfaces. So let’s do it. Man. It’s very hard to do it using layer styles. So I just use my tablet to paint it by hand.
Rasterize the layer. Tap on the layer holding the ALT key to select the layer and begin to paint.
Brushes:
Step 1 ?black reflections
Then I suggest to use some blur (using the blur tool) (R) ?.. continue the painting.
Well here we have ? a have also used some layer styles on this one.
Result:
+ a have erased a little bit . (IMHO).
Now our final subject ? JELLY for this one I will use a lot of layer styles. So be careful I set the Overall layer fill to about 15%-18% and used these layer styles (Overall blending mode is lighten).
So this is nearly finished. Some Eraser manipulations on our METAL (rasterize layer), free background and we are Done.
I?ve cropped the file for better composition.
Enjoy and Experiment!
