Decorative Painting
Today we are going to do a decorative painting that can be used as a pattern to something or just a single painting. So let’s begin. More brush and digital painting tourniquets will be used in this one.

So create a new document with these dimensions.
Create a new layer (ctrl+n) and fill it with Pattern. See the top cornet. You can fill the document not only with color but with pattern as well.
Here we have it.
I want to use a lot of texture in this one.
Os create another layer and fill it with black to white gradient. I’m doing this to form basic lighting. We won’t need a complex one in this drawing.
Change the layer mode to Color Burn.
And here is the gradient I’m using.
I’ve also want to fill the gradient layer with another pattern using layer styles.
And here it is.
We will paint a figure of some king of an Indian.
Do it on the separate layer.
Choose a proper brush. I will use one of the brushes that imitates dry media.
Experiment with brush settings.
Here we have it.
And begin to paint a silhouette.
A lot of colors are picked from the background pattern.
Forming some kind of figure.
Putting s little bit of value.
Maybe
some accessories? Remember not to start with details until all the
shapes are proper shaped and stay where they suppose to stay.
A little bit of lighting on the legs.
As
you can se I’m not trying to do a figure with perfect anatomy. I’m
trying to imitate the painting style that was in early ages.
More texture using Filters > Texture:
Crop the image for better composition.
Here
is a peak to all the texture. It is giving a sort of effect that the
picture was being painted on some kind of material and not on the
paper.
And our final effect will be this one.
Accented Edges will keep the picture less digital.
And
this is it. We can use this decoration as a bathroom accessory or
whatever; moreover we can make a beautiful pattern using this one.
Enjoy!
