Abstract Painting Tutorial – Part 2
I welcome you into part 2 of making a Abstract painting in Photoshop tutorial. I’ve finished in making shape and making it our background element.
Now we are going to make some foreground elements and giving some king of mood to out picture so let’s get going.
I’m just doing some details to my picture and refining the edges and shapes. I’m more visual in this case. You have to catch the moment when you like the picture. You must be ready to change everything until you gain good results.
Link the pattern layers, we have 2 of them, and merge them together.
Here I’m just transforming the element a little bit.
Now some layer styles.
Drop shadow is standard.
I’m using red as the base color of the glow.
Satin has Black color and set to multiply.
All the rest styles have quite standard settings.
And here is our result.
I will now make the object glow a little bit by adding some lighter color.
I usually use such brushes to pain some texture. And in this case too.
Large diameter.
I’m using one of my favorite filters when it comes to Abstraction.
So just select the layer with out RED element and use twirl, in Filters > Distort > Twirl, filter.
Transform it a little bit.
Now let’s do something with these 2 lines.
These are going to be our most foreground elements.
Step 1.
Transform the lines.
Step 2.
Make them look more like they are staying there. I will use layer styles for this.
The Drop shadow is white.
Inner shadow will play the role of light here so it is going to be yellow, like the color of background.
Texture the whole element using bevel and emboss with texture.
Just copy the layer style to another board shall we say.
But because of our element has different angle some changes have to be done in layer styles.
As you can see I’ve added some red to my picture using low flow textured brush.
Crop the picture AND FLIPED IT OVER 90 degrees.
Moreover I’ve made some changes in layer styles.
I really want to put some character there.
It some king of wizard.
Adding some color, just a little bit.
I will color balance the whole picture (Adjustment layer – Color balance). We will make it a little bit darker.
Adding some details to my wizard
And we are done here. Enjoy.
